Construction work is regulated in the State of Nebraska. To register with the state, click here. Any contractor doing business in counties with a population of 100,000 or more need to be licensed. Nonresident contractors must register with the Nebraska Secretary of State and the Nebraska Department of Revenue. If you are a nonresident contractor, click here. or call (402) 471-2554. Bonds on construction work done by out of state contractors are as follows: *under $2,500-none, * $2,500-$10,000= $1,000 bond, $10,000-$100,000=10% of contract, over $100,000=5% of contract.
